Immaculate beaches meet lowland rainforests at Colón. This province is one of the largest in Panama, and is situated for unparalleled views of the famed Panama Canal. The city’s loyalty to its roots brings forth rich arts and music scenes that highlight the vibrant culture of the Afro-Colonial Congo people, who preserved the history of their ancestors, and uses it in artful ways to
educate and inspire visitors.
Day 3: Panama Canal Transit
This day brings the unique opportunity to transit the world-famous Panama Canal – a more than century-old engineering marvel that spared sailors a two-week journey around South America by cutting across the Isthmus of Panama to shorten the voyage to approximately eight hours instead. Sit back and enjoy this 50-mile bucket-list trip, on which highlights include Lake Gatun, the
Gaillard Cut along the Continental Divide and various locks systems.
Day 4: Panama City
Panama City is known for old-world culture combined with urban sophistication. The limits of this modern metropolis back up to a protected tropical rainforest. It is a city of contrasts – skyscrapers juxtaposed with quaint cobblestone roads in the colonial city of Casco Viejo and the ruins of Old Panama. The city was founded in 1519 by Spanish conquistadors, and launched expeditions that conquered Peru’s Incan Empire. It became a crucial stopover on one of the most important trade routes on the American continent, and on the first transcontinental
railroad to the United States. Enjoy an included city tour in the laid-back atmosphere of this special destination.
Day 5: At Sea
Glide along the glassy liquid surface as life flourishes both above and below. Today is the day to relax, spend time with friends, share a cocktail in The Tavern, hear an entertaining lecture or just laze on deck, enjoying the view.
Day 6: Golfito, Costa Rica
This area of southern Costa Rica is sometimes called the last frontier, boasting some of the tallest rainforests in Central America. In its rugged wilderness, a stunning array of species thrive,
from wildlife to sailfish. For those looking to experience a world apart from the hustle and bustle of city life, Golfito provides an ideal refuge.
Day 7: Quepos, Costa Rica
Both meticulously developed and quaintly preserved, this harbor town is teeming with life – both civilized and wild. The gateway to Manuel Antonio National Park draws sports fishing enthusiasts from all around, and its beaches offer some of the best Pacific Ocean views. An included tour takes visitors around the city and to the exotic and sprawling Villa Vanilla Spice Plantation, which gives the world the tasty gifts of Ceylon cinnamon, cocoa, uncommon fruits, medicinal plants and more. Or choose a beach day near Manuel Antonio National Park to mingle among the mangroves with the plethora of wild species that call the park home.
Day 8: Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Visitors are charmed by the fishing port town of Puntarenas and its fresh seafood, beachfront boardwalk and retro architecture. Once a major shipping port for moving coffee and bananas to the U.S. West Coast, it now serves as a playground for landlocked adventurers in San Jose and beyond. An included tour takes guests around the city, including to Parque Marino del Pacifico – a project to support and sustain marine biodiversity, with recreation and various wildlife exhibits – a lighthouse and market shopping.
Day 9: Disembark San Jose-Puntarenas, Costa Rica
After breakfast today your journey concludes. Enjoy the city at your leisure, or consider a post-cruise premium group experience with a transfer to Juan Santamaría International Airport.
