Itinerary
Day 1 – June 28 – New York City – Theater District Hotel
Your groups will arrive in New York City to a scheduled free evening. From a conveniently located hotel in Mid-Town you have time to explore restaurants and theaters.
Day 2 – June 29 – Queen Mary 2 . . . Set Sail
This morning after breakfast and hotel check-out, enjoy a city tour of New York City before heading to Brooklyn to board the iconic Queen Mary 2. She is Cunard’s flagship and the most magnificent ocean liner ever built, one of the grandest ships afloat and heir to the great tradition established by the original Queen Mary this ship carries on a 170 year tradition of seagoing excellence. This is a once-in-a-lifetime cruise. (B,L,D)
Boarding time is 12:30pm, she sets sail at 5:00pm, be sure you are on deck when this ship sails past the Statue of Liberty – it is a moving site.
Day 3 – June 30 – Day At Sea . . .
This day is spent at sea sailing north past the point of Cape Cod toward Canada. The Queen Mary 2, affectionately known by customers as simply the QM2, offers so much space on board and such an array of state of the art facilities including a 3D Cinema and a superb spa, that you will spend this entire day on discovery. Enjoy the majestic Britannia Restaurant, the swank Commodore Club, have a draught in the Golden Lion Pub, discover the world’s only shipboard Planetarium, and enjoy dancing with dinner in the chandeliered Queen’s Room. Oh, and you will also discover that no one does afternoon tea better than the Brits. (B,L,D)
Day 4 – July 1 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
This morning the RQM2 is in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The capital of Nova Scotia and the largest city in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces, Halifax was once Great Britain’s major military bastion in North America. The beautifully restored waterfront buildings of Halifax’s Historic Properties recall the city’s centuries-old maritime heritage. Stroll the waterfront, and you may find Nova Scotia’s floating ambassador, the schooner Bluenose II, tied up to Privateer’s Wharf, just as old sailing ships have done for over 200 years. Today enjoy a private group tour of Halifax. Some highlights will include famous Peggy’s Cove, and the Titanic Museum. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – July 2 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
Today is another full day in Halifax to spend at your leisure. (B,L,D)
Day 6 – July 3 – Portland, Maine
Once you set foot on the historic cobblestone streets of Portland, Maine, you’ll know what keeps visitors flocking to these shores from around the world. Located in the heart of Casco Bay, Portland is home to a mix of activities, from outdoor adventures to artfully curated excursions and food experiences that will leave your taste buds wanting more during your cruise to Portland. Create an adventure in this sophisticated seaside city that perfectly matches your taste: Hike Casco Bay out to the lighthouse, peruse through the shops of Congress Street and the Old Port, or taste your way through the many highly regarded breweries inside the city limits and just beyond. Day 7 – July 4 – Boston, MA – Freedom Trail – Tea Party Ship Museum – Fireworks
Having sailed through the night you arrive in Boston Harbor late this morning where we’ve pre-packaged another wonderful shore tour. Hailed as the “Cradle of American Independence,” Boston is filled with historic sites. It was America’s first great city. In the 19th century, She was rightly described as the “Athens of America.” Today this city of 800,000 retains its vitality, combining historic districts with revitalized urban centers while remaining faithful to its venerable roots. It is a city every American should visit at least once. You will follow the Freedom Trail along three of the most historic miles in the country. You will enjoy a visit with the character of Paul Revere at the Old North Church. And then a tour of the Boston Tea Party Ship & Museum where live actors, high-tech, interactive exhibits, authentically restored tea ships and the stirring, multi-sensory documentary “Let it Begin Here,” are just a taste of what you’ll see, hear and feel.
This evening the City of Boston has a marvelous Fireworks display and you can watch it at a distance from the ship. Relaxing on deck without a crowd, you might find a moment of historical humor in this Francis Scott Key type moment, as you too are actually onboard a British Ship with bombs bursting in air. It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate America’s Independence Day. It’s also important to remember that you were gifted a box of Boston Harbor Tea, what you do with that tea tonight is entirely up to you. (B,L,D)
Day 8 –July 5 – Boston – At Sea
You may enjoy a quick morning visit into Boston or simply relax and indulge yourself amidst the Queen Mary’s many luxuries. You set sail for New York at lunchtime. (B,L,D)
