Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Barcelona, Spain

It’s easy to see why Barcelona is the most-visited city in Spain. As the capital of the country’s Catalonia region, this cityscape’s cultural mosaic pieces together a 2,000-year-old hodgepodge of sun-drenched beaches, cutting edge architecture, and a world-renowned dining and drinking scene. Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí left his modernist handprint all over the city, while medieval treasures linger in historic Gothic Quarter squares. Get lost in the whimsical gardens of Park Güell or savor a chef-led Catalan cooking class. Browse art collections dedicated to Picasso and Miro— or ride a cable car to the top of Montjuïc Hill, relishing citywide views along the way.  Today arrive into Barcelona and transfer to your hotel. After check in, the rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.

Day 2 – Barcelona/Board the Norwegian Breakaway

This morning enjoy breakfast at hotel. Then meet your guide and motorcoach for a half day morning city tour of Barcelona. Upon conclusion of the tour, transfer to harbor for cruise embarkation.

Day 3 – Palma (Majorca), Spain

The Spanish island of Mallorca offers towering mountains and dramatic cliffs rising over clear, blue water — but its hidden gem is Palma de Mallorca, the island’s capital and largest city, where you’ll find quaint historic streets, Gothic castles and gastronomic delights. Cruise to Palma de Mallorca and check out one-of-a-kind Palma Cathedral: The 14th-century Gothic spires of exterior contrast the modernist interior designed by in the early 1900s by Gaudi. See the circular courtyard and Arab-inspired arches of Castell de Bellver, and take in the fresh scent of the miles of pine forest that surround it. Or rent bikes and pedal east to Palma Beach, where you can soak in the sun on the white sands and clear waves.

Day 4 – Cannes, France

The French Riviera is synonymous with glamour and wealth — and when it comes to prestige, Cannes is the crown jewel. Home to the famous Cannes Film Festival, the city comes to life with movie stars each year for the event. But you don’t have to be a big-shot to feel like a star here. Head to Palm Beach to take a dip and bask in the sunshine. Stroll down the famous mile-long La Croisette and take in the views of the marina and town below. Cruise to Cannes and head up the hill to Le Suquet, the original town center that’s remained unchanged for hundreds of years.

Day 5 – Florence/Pisa, Italy

Lapped by the shimmering blue waters of the Ligurian Sea, the Port of Carrara is often used as a gateway to Tuscany on cruises to Florence, Italy. It’s also just a short car ride from Pisa. While both these cities are must-visit destinations, the port itself offers boundless beauty and enough history to fill a whole day. Artists have extracted marble from its quarries since Roman times, and it’s bursting with captivating architectural wonders like the eleventh-century Duomo di Carrara, the sixteenth-century piazza Alberica, and the medieval Castello Malaspina, now the headquarters of Carrara’s Academy of Fine Arts.

Day 6 – Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

With 28 centuries of celebrated history, Rome holds the edge when it comes to unrivaled adventures. The city that sparked the world’s largest empire is very much alive today with a jumble of ancient ruins, world-renowned art and vivacious street culture. Here you can live la dolce vita, recalling the glory days of Ancient Rome and twirling forks full of pasta in a trattoria. Ride past centuries-old basilicas in a three-wheeled Ape Calessino, or stand in awe of paintings by Italian masters at Villa Borghese. Whether it’s Vatican City’s spiritual allure, Trastevere’s backstreet charms, or the Colosseum’s embattled legacy— The Eternal City endures with endless adventures.

Day 7 – Naples, Italy

With a skyline defined by towering Mount Vesuvis, Naples is a bustling Italian city brimming with beauty. Experience its rich neoclassical architecture at sites like Gesu Nuovo Church, with its lavish interior adorned with detailed frescoes, statues and gold inlay. Go even deeper into history at the San Gennaro catacombs, where Naples’ first bishops were buried in the second century A.D. Walk along the Miglio Sacro (“Holy Mile”) and people-watch your way through the cafes and shops of the Sanita district with a zuccherato (sweetened espresso) in hand. Jump onboard a Naples cruise and take the short bus ride to the base of Mount Vesuvius — it’s an easy 20- to 30-minute hike will take you to the summit — and tour the ruins of Pompeii afterward.

Day 8 – Messina, Italy

Messina is Sicily’s panoramic gateway — located on the northeastern corner of the island, the city just kisses the boot of mainland Italy’s southern tip. Get lost among the patchwork of churches and antique palaces. The Messina Cathedral is in the heart of the city, and its famous bell tower houses the largest mechanical clock in the world — every day at noon, the statues move to Schubert’s “Ave Maria.” In front of this church, you’ll find the Fontana di Orione, a 16th-century fountain that’s a work of art in itself, with sculptures of figures from ancient mythology. Cruise to Sicily and take a leisurely walk to the Sacrario di Cristo Re, a hilltop church with panoramic views of the town and the surrounding mountains.

Day 9 – Valletta, Malta

As you approach Valletta — the capital of Malta, a tiny island nation located at the crossroads of Europe and Africa — you’ll see its golden cityscape appears on the horizon, crowned by the imposing dome of Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The 16th-century church is just one of the many discoveries that await you in Valletta — the entire city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore St. John’s Co-Cathedral, a lavishly adorned Baroque sanctuary that reflects the former wealth of the Knights of Malta. Walk through the Grand Master’s Palace, where you can see weapons and armor from the age of chivalry at the Palace Armory. Take in ocean views from the Grand Harbor, a seaside fortress dating back to 1530.

Day 10 – Corfu, Greece

Perched above the Adriatic Sea, Corfu, Greece is the second largest Ionian island, and its size is rivaled by its tremendous history and dynamic cultural identity. Cruise to Corfu and walk through the narrow streets of Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and marvel at the Italianate architecture left from centuries of Venetian rule. A number of scenes from the James Bond film “For Your Eyes Only” were filmed in the capital city of Corfu, and you’ll understand why when you see the epic coastal roads and immense fortresses buttressing the town. With its rich combination of old fishing villages and immaculate beaches, Corfu is the perfect place to get lost in time during your vacation.

Day 11 – Dubrovnik, Croatia

Thick 16th-century stone walls encase the entire Old Town of Dubrovnik. But there are no boundaries on the endless adventures you’ll discover among its orange-roofed ramparts. With a made-for-TV appeal— Game of Thrones was actually filmed here— the city commands your attention with the perfectly preserved Rector’s Palace, elaborate Onofrio’s Fountain, and baroque St. Blaise’s Church, named after the city’s patron saint. You can browse museum collections showcasing Croatian artwork, period furniture and shipbuilding traditions. Stand in awe of the Franciscan Monastery library’s 30,000 volumes. Or to get your heart pumping, go cliff diving into the sea and kayak crystal blue waters, with the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ shimmering in the distance.

Day 12 – Split, Croatia

Lying on the Adriatic Sea’s eastern shore, Split is known for its terracotta roofs, whitewash buildings, palm tree-lined promenade and azure waters. Split has a long history, as it’s home to Diocletian’s Palace and the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, which were built for the Roman emperor in the 4th century. Always buzzing with tourists, Split balances its historic setting with a plethora of modern restaurants, bars and shops. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, Split receives over 2,600 hours of sunshine every year. Day 13 – Venice, Italy – Depart for Home

Today disembark in Venice. Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
